Friday, Oct. 29th

  • 6:30 - 7:30am - Made-to-order breakfast for hotel guests
  • 7:15 - 8:15am - Hotel vans to Dallas Arobretum. Conference begind promptly at 8:30am in Rosine Hall at the Arboretum
  • 8:30am - Welcome to Dallas Arboretum, Jimmy Turner, Director.
     - Welcome to Dallas, Sharon Nelson, President, TMSNAB
  • 8:45am - Keith Johansson, Metro Maples, Ft Worth, Texas: A Maple for Every Spot.
  • 9:30am - John Powell, Weatherford, Texas: Designing Japanese Gardens.
  • 10:15 - 10:30am - Break
  • 10:30am - Casey Brownlow, Brownlow and Sons Garden Works, Tyler, Texas: Creative Use of Plants to Accent Japanese Maples.
  • 11:15am - 12:00pm - Box lunches in Rosine Hall
  • 12:00 - 12:30pm - Board vans for return to hotel.
  • 12:45pm - Charter buses depart hotel for Ft. Worth.
  • 1:30pm - Tour Ft. Worth Japanese Gardens at Ft. Worth Botanical Garden.
  • 2:30pm - Depart Ft. Worth Japanese Gardens for Metro Maples tour.
  • 3:45pm - Depart Metro Maples for the Dallas Cowboy Stadium.
  • 4:30pm - Guided tour of the world famous Dallas Cowboy Stadium.
    This new stadium opened in 2009. The price tag was $1.2 billion. The stadium holds 100,000 and boosts 315 luxury suites and is the selected stadium for the next Super Bowl. (A surprise for you…each person will have his/her photo made on the Dallas Cowboys Star on the field as a gift!)
  • 5:45pm - Depart stadium to return to the hotel. (In the event we are running late, we will not return to the hotel, rather travel directly to the Mexican Fiesta event).
  • 6:45pm - Depart hotel to travel to El Fenix Mexican Restaurant.
  • 7:00pm - Mexican Fiesta and Mariachi Band for entertainment.
  • 9:00 - 9:30pm - Buses depart El Fenix for hotel.
  • The rest of the evening is your own. There is a neat Comedy CLub in the hotel, which might be of interest to some.

Saturday, Oct. 30th

  • 6:30 - 7:30am - Made-to-order breakfast for hotel guests
  • 7:15 - 8:15am - Hotel vans to Dallas Arobretum.

  • 9:30am- Hugh Angus, Westonbirt Arboretum, England: What Maple is That.
  • 10:30am- Break.
  • 10:45am- Peter Gregory, Cirencester, England: Maple Flowers.
  • 11:45am - 12:15pm- Box lunches in Rosine Hall.
  • 12:15pm- Guided tours of the Dallas Arboretum.
  • 2:15pm- Board vans for return to hotel.
  • 3:00pm- Board charter busses for private home garden tours.
    (In the event this is not possible, we will spend longer at the Arboretum). There is a major problem with the city of Dallas in bringing large busses into the residential area we are interested in having the garden tours.
  • 5:30pm - Depart from second home garden tour to travel to Sourhfork Ranch.
  • 6:00pm - Tour Sourhfork Ranch.
  • 6:30 - 8:30pm - Silent Auction, results at 9:15pm
  • 7:00pm - Chuckwagon Barbeque Dinner, and Texas Line-Dancing (instruction provided).
  • 10:00pm - Depart Southfork Ranch for return to hotel.
