The Maple Society

A number of events will take place during 2010:

• The Spring outing in the UK for the Society is planned for Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 May 2010 - we intend to visit Winkworth Arboretum, Nymans Gardens and Wakehurst Place, full details will be available soon.
• The Maple Society will have a stand at the BBC Gardeners World Live show at the NEC in Birmingham between 16 and 20 June 2010. We will be looking for volunteers to help on the stand each day of the show, so please get in touch if you are a member and willing to help out.
• The 2010 AGM is planned for 9-10 October, during the Autumn trip. The likely venue is Hergest Croft - full details to be posted later.
• The North American Branch will be holding their yearly meeting in Dallas, Texas at the end of October - further details will be posted on this site later.
• And one meeting in 2011 - the next International Maple Symposium is planned to be held in Belgium later on in 2011. No firm date is decided at present, more news will be available once a date is decided.

The Maple Society, North American Branch, completed another successful annual meeting this past Autumn. The Portland, Oregon conference was all, and more, than we could possibly expect to pack into three days and evenings. The committee is to be sincerely complemented for this successful event of ’09.

At the time of this writing, January ’10, the leaves have fallen, the ice is covering the beautiful bare bark, and I sit by the window admiring the skeleton trees in the woods beyond, and dreaming of the wonderful Spring temperatures and beautiful foliage ahead.
